S-100 a new standard for navigation safety and ocean protection

Context

The workshops organized ahead of the political segment of the One Ocean Summit of 11 February,  aimed at mobilizing the maritime community to tackle ocean protection challenges with technological, scientific and environmental transformations.

Each workshop was a "Call for action", and a contribution to the Action Plan that set out as a result of the One Ocean Summit.  This was the spirit of the workshop organized under the patronage of the International hydrographic Organisation by the Shom, the CCIMBO (Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Brest West Brittany)  and  partners of one pathfinder European project "Blue Ports".

« S-100: a new standard for navigation safety and ocean protection"

The S-100 standard for "e-navigation", also aims at describing the environment. It has been adopted by the International Maritime Organization and is already considered as a digital revolution of the maritime sector: a response to modern e-navigation and to sustainable development challenges of maritime activities as well.

As new standard, its implementation at international level requires cooperation between all actors.

The workshop was an invitation  to discover the S-100 world and to set out ways forward its implementation.
